About the VSF Volunteer Service Awards
The VSF Volunteer Service Awards (VVSA) recognize individuals who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to serving their communities through volunteering.
At Vasavi Seva Foundation (VSF), we believe that service is one of our core values. Through our Community Seva initiatives, members of all ages contribute their time, skills, and compassion to improve the lives of others. The VVSA program celebrates these volunteers and encourages a lifelong commitment to community service
The awards honor volunteers whose efforts create a meaningful and lasting impact while inspiring others to participate in community service.
Purpose
The VSF Volunteer Service Awards aim to:

Inspire youth and families to develop a lifelong habit of volunteering.

Celebrate individuals who embody the VSF values of Unite • Serve • Celebrate.

Promote leadership through volunteerism.
Eligibility
The VVSA is open to all VSF members and volunteers regardless of citizenship or residency status.
To be eligible:

Volunteer service must be completed during the designated award period.

Volunteer work must be unpaid.

Service must directly benefit a nonprofit organization, school, community organization, or charitable cause.

Hours must be verified by an authorized organization or volunteer coordinator.

Volunteers are responsible for maintaining accurate records and submitting their hours before the annual deadline
Eligible Volunteer Activities
Volunteer hours may include:
● VSF Community Seva events
● Food distribution programs
● Homeless outreach
● Senior citizen support
● Environmental clean-up projects
● Educational tutoring and mentoring
● Charity fundraising support
● Blood drives and health awareness events
● Cultural service projects
● Disaster relief volunteering
● Volunteering at VSF organized events
● Volunteer work performed for other registered nonprofit organizations
● Leadership roles in planning or organizing community service activities
Activities That Do Not Qualify
The following activities are not eligible:
● Paid employment
● Court-ordered community service
● Political campaigning or lobbying
● Religious worship or proselytizing
● Donating money without volunteer service
● Volunteer work benefiting only immediate family members
● School assignments where volunteer service is mandatory unless performed beyond required hours
Award Categories
Youth (5–10 years)
Recognizes young volunteers beginning their journey of service.
Junior (11–15 years)
Recognizes consistent participation and growing leadership.
Teen (16–25 years)
Honors youth demonstrating exceptional initiative and leadership.
Adult (26 years and older)
Recognizes sustained service and commitment to the community.
Annual Recognition Levels
Special Recognition
In addition to annual service awards, VSF may recognize volunteers for:

● Community Impact
● Youth Leadership
● Innovation in Service
● Lifetime Service Contribution
These recognitions may be awarded based on nominations and committee review
rather than volunteer hours alone.
Verification of Volunteer Hours
To ensure fairness and consistency:
● Every submitted volunteer activity must include:
o Organization name
o Event name
o Date of service
o Number of volunteer hours
o Supervisor or coordinator name
o Verification (signature, email confirmation, or approved volunteer management system)
VSF reserves the right to verify any submitted volunteer hours.

Recognition
Award recipients may receive:
● Personalized Certificate of Recognition
● VSF Volunteer Service Medal or Pin

● VSF digital badge for use on LinkedIn and other social media platforms
Submission Process
1. Track volunteer hours throughout the year.
2. Obtain verification from each organization.
3. Complete the VSF Volunteer Service Awards application.
4. Submit supporting documentation before the published deadline.
5. Await verification and award notification.

Can volunteer hours from other nonprofit organizations be included?
Yes. Volunteer hours from eligible nonprofit organizations may be counted if properly documented and verified.

Can students include school volunteer hours?
Yes, provided the service is voluntary and not solely performed to satisfy mandatory graduation requirements.

Can VSF event planning count as volunteer service?
Yes. Planning, organizing, coordinating, and leading VSF Community Seva events are eligible volunteer activities.

Yes. Each individual is recognized based on their own verified volunteer hours.
